This video provides details on Windows PE including what it is (its uses and limitations) and how to use it, from installation to full customization. This includes modifying the default Windows PE image to add provided packages (such as Scripting, HTA, XML, MDAC, etc.), installing drivers (in this example the VMware network card driver) , mounting and unmounting images, and understanding the actions behind the many command lines (imagex, peimg, etc.) used to customize a Windows PE image. Finally, the video shows how to create a bootable ISO image for use in removable media and how to prepare and copy the necessary files to create a bootable USB memory drive so you may boot to Windows PE using a thumb drive/keychain.

How to install the custom packages that come with WinPE is discussed here in addition to installing drivers and customizing the files to include your own automatically executed scripts. The demonstration shows how to obtain the VMware NIC driver and then install it into the Windows PE file based image

At each step in the demonstration, how your actions pertain to the file based image and support files is explained and shown. ImageX is Microsoft's new Imaging utility and is used extensively in the customization of this Windows PE image (just as you would a Vista image). This presentation is mostly demonstrations and each is very detailed and is offered in a very "step-by-step" fashion so you may follow along if you wish.
