Note
The installer is actually 2 parts, one for inventor 8, & one for mechanical desktop 2004 DX.

Inv8 is pretty much just a quick commandline install, options are given in the INVENTOR_INSTALL.chm under administrator installation/Scripting Installation. Just place the contents of cd1\bin\acadfeui\Inventor out on the network & run the installer against it.

Sample command line i use to push this out via zenworks nal - Msiexec.exe /i Inventor.msi ADSK_SILENT_LICENSE=YES ALLOWDRAWINGEDIT=1 CONTENTLIBRARYEDIT=1 DRAWINGSTANDARD=ANSI SERIALPREFIX=### SERIALSUFFIX=######## LICENSETYPE=STANDALONE UNITS=INCH /qr

For mechanical desktop 2004 DX first install the "Autodesk Network Installation Wizard" off either cd. Run the NIW against cd2\Bin\ACADFeui\acad.msi, it will want to create a network deployment directory (you can cheat & just tell it a local one \\computer\c$\acad\etc to work with it initially, then copy it out to the network anytime). once you complete this, it will create a shortcut with the name of the profile you gave it. All that shortcut does is point to the deploy.exe "profilename" (you find the profile name under deploy.ini). Just create a nal object pointing to deploy.exe out on the network, and for command line properties feed it "profilename".

I used zenworks/nal to deploy this, but im sure anyone could adapt these instructions to their own network.
As INVSeries8 is still so new, there are no patches or addons at this point in time.

***It does not appear that inventor 8 itself is compatible with the "Autodesk Network Installation Wizard". It always says the msi is invalid or corrupt.

Note

Copying the contents of the folder did not work for me for Inventor 8. I had to create an administrative installation point and then run the MSI from there with all the required switches.
