Can anyone help me with deploying VLC Media player 1.1.2 for a large amount of PC's.
I need to disable automatic updates, and file associations.

In previous versions i could edit an NSI file, but not any longer.

Help will be appreciated!

Thanks

timmsie,

Thanks for the reply.

Unfortunately the info in the knowledge base, does not apply to version 1.1.2.
There seem to be no NSI-file.

Therefore i made this post.

From *my* reading of the Package Kb article, you need to download a ZIP, not an EXE. The ZIP contains the set-up stub, the NSI, etc.

EDIT:
I went W A Y out on a limb and, taking the URL shown for 1.0.1 in one of the 'Notes' entries, replaced '1.0.1' with '1'0.2' and downloaded a ZIP. Can you guess what was in it? :-)

Hey

I was running into the same problem.  The nsi file is not in the .zip version of 1.1.2.  It is, however, in the .7z version.

You are mistaken.  At issue is the .zip file for 1.1.2, not 1.0.2.  The .nsi is not in the .zip file.  It is, however, in the .7z file.

TomAYto, tomARto...

The point I was making is that, as a support person, one needs to think a bit. Or at all.

Just download vlc. It's much better than the average media player since it plays virtually any video/audio file format out there and has already all the codecs preinstalled. There are lots of other near features too. If you don't know where to look then check out the vlc player download page. video, VLC Media Player is the best application you will find. It's minimal interface is great for viewing, it's got excellent tools for effects, and doing things like adding subtitles is easy.

You will find yourself well served by actually reading threads before responding. The OP was asking about deploying VLCClearly, one cannot deploy an application which hasn't yet been downloaded.

Hi @ all...
I found a resolution. Donwload the 'vlc-1.1.2-win32.exe' from the SourceForge page and install it simply with the option '/S'. That works perfectly in my baramundi Environment...

Dymo.
