This subject has been done to death and I, for one, have no intention of repeating the advice which is already available in abundance here on AppDeploy. Use the 'Search' facility and look for DPINST.

If you're also getting the dialog which prompts you to 'Continue anyway?', search also for 'driver signing'.

This kind of response will get you nowhere. It's like taking your car to the garage and saying "It makes a noise. Can you fix it?"

What - exactly - does the error message say?

Hi Itried every thing did google and appdeploy but it doesn't work for me.I use to work with Wise Package Studio i'm packaging SQN Scanner Drivers.Let me explain what i did
I've opened a windows installer and took the pre define template for drivers.
I've created a folder called SQN Scanner drivers on C:\ Drive and copied all set of the files what i got .cat,.sys.inf.dll everything in to this folder.
Then gone to the merge module table and checked the box for module DIFx
then i went to the inf file in c:\SQN Scanner Drivers and went to the details tab and checked the box Use merge module.
But it was showing me a pop window new hardware found???i'm n't suppose to get this message My target is to install the application by using C:\SQN Scannerdrivers in silent mode.with out thos e windows.

Here are my questions??
i dont want to certify my file because it has a cat file which means it's certified.
When i have installed the app its getting installed but i can't see in the controlpanel as it got installed???How do we know Whether its getting installed or not???
when i insert USB Scanner It popping up with hardware wizard??
I have gone through Setupapp.log file and checked the message its saying driver not found i'm pasting my log file too..My log file is too large so i'm sending up last few lines where we look for error message.

At least part of the problem seems to be that you have a CAT file and a reference to a CAT file in your INF and yet the log says that the driver is unsigned or incorrectly signed. Also, it's not entirely unknown for manufacturers to foul up their INFs (although this one seems to be system-generated).

Here is a Microsoft document to help you decipher SETUPAPI.LOG. It will be worth deleting any existing copy before you start, to make its size more manageable.

Lastly, please use the CODE tag to post lengthy text. You can edit your post to include that tag by clicking the 'Edit' link.

>i dont want to certify my file because it has a cat file which means it's certified.
That was my point! That file is, in effect, the file's "signature". That *should* mean that it's signed but the log says that the file isn't signed or that the signature is invalid. You need to either take that up with the vendor or self-sign it. If my experience is anything to go by, you will probably have retired before you get to speak to someone at the vendor who even understands what you're talking about. So, in your shoes, I'd copy the CAT file somewhere safe, then self-sign the driver file. There's plenty in the archive about how to do that.

>When i have installed the app its getting installed but i can't see in the controlpanel as it got installed???How do we >know Whether its getting installed or not???
What "app"? We're talking here about a driver and drivers don't appear in ARP.

>when i insert USB Scanner It popping up with hardware wizard??
Yes, because the driver isn't installed!

>i'm pasting my log file too..My log file is too large so i'm sending up last few lines where we look for error message.
Did I mention using the CODE tag? That is, just before you paste:

- type [square_bracket]CODE[square_bracket]
- paste your log file
- type [square_bracket]/CODE[square_bracket]

Obviously you will actually type the square bracket character, not the word [square_bracket]!

Reading from Device Class GUIDs for Popular Types of Hardware the "ClassGuid={4D36E978-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}" represents: Serial and parallel ports, which I'm not sure DIFx/DPinst can handle.

Hi Angel
Pls let me know how to come from this issue. Its very urgent Issue that needs to be reolved.
I know the driver template in windows doesn't work.So i using the normal template
Under the .inf i ve opened the details and opened the driver tab and did as u explained earlier.
Still i 'm seeing mesage when I'm trying to plugin USB Scanner i use to get an error message found newhardware. followed by the pop up windows.where is the olocation of the files and so it needs to take the files from C:\Scanner drivers...
Pls help me with this ISssue angel .
I've seen u helped many guys...
Thanks
Harsha
